There are a number of organizations dedicated to promoting the sport and hobby of kite flying, as well as organizing events and kite festivals.
One of the largest and most well established kite flying organizations is the American Kite Flyer's Organization. Founded in 1964, this nonprofit organization has over 4,000 members, in 35 countries. The A.K.A. is a nonprofit organization whose goal is to advance the joys and values of kiting in all nations. It also publishes an online newsletter with many pictures of kite festivals from around the world.
The National Kite Month Association is dedicated to the promotion and support of kiting. Its main activity is the establishment and promotion of National Kite Month (which runs from National Kite Month is a not-for-profit venture co-founded by the American Kitefliers Association and the Kite Trade Association International. Kite events around the world help introduce people to the fun of kite flying, the rich history of kites, the stunning artistry of kite makers, and how kites can be used as educational tools.
The One Sky One World organization uses kite festivals to promote world peace and international understanding. And who said that flying a kite was just a fun pastime!
The Kite Trade Association is a nonprofit organization that exists to support and promote the manufacturing, distributing and retailing of kites and wind related products. It hands out annual awards to the best products and merchants in the industry. In 2008 the winner of the Best New Product was the "UFO" by William Mark Corp. available at hobbylinc.com
